Custom Homes builder quality

At Jim Hammond and Diane Kelley's residence that we built back in 1996, they asked us to build a family room addition to the rear of their home and an office/shop for Jims fishing guide business. Just the end of last year and the beginning of this year we returned to do some more additions and a major remodel of the interior. We Added a new front porch with open cypress trusses rafters and decked on top with an open view of cypress T&G. we also added a new sun room with full view windows onto the master bedroom.

Then we went to the back family room and added a 2nd story gable and an interior 2nd story loft with a full view thru the windows of Nassau river. We removed all the existing siding and installed new Artison series Hardie board siding trimmed out with pre primed smooth cedar. We installed new 2x8 Smooth cedar fascia and Hardie soffit, with recessed lighting in the front Soffits of the home. The interior of the new back family room has a 2nd story cathedral ceiling that we covered with 1x6 cypress T&G and installed cypress beams.

The stairs to the loft is built out of cypress and we inserted Metal art panels that look like wooded forest with deer ect... The rest of the existing home we removed all of the doors & trim and the window trim and reinstalled clear pine doors and cypress trim. We also installed into the many vaulted ceilings in the home 1x6 cypress t&g and 1x8 horizontal T&g on the exterior walls so look like Squared off logs. We completely remodeled all of the baths with new travertine stone tiles, new granite counter tops, and new venetian bronze plumbing fixtures. We also added some cypress T&G to ea. bath as accents of the rest of the house.

When working with Diane to design all of these additions and interior remolding,... seeing the theme she wanted to display of a lodge or log home, I recommended that she use designer light fixtures the reflect the same. So she researched and found the ones that you can see in the pictures that have trees, deer, and other natural elements. Jim and Diane both love animals, and have several dogs including a new pup, so we had to consider the needs of their pets as well with installation of dog doors etc.

We worked very hard to accomplish the project but also to meet the needs of the family to return as quickly as possible to their home. We were glad that we were able to accomplish this and finish up the project a month earlier that our contracted time allowance. Jim and Diane many times on this project have expressed their appreciation for the level of excellence and craftsmanship that was performed by my sons and others on this project. Also I and My sons Austin & Philip, plus our subcontractors were very happy to have Jim and Diane ask us to perform this additional work on their home, and are very pleased with the outcome.

The Buccaneer Building which is a commercial office building that we built back in 2000 is located on the St Johns River next to the Mayport ferry slip on Heckscher Dr. There was an old restaurant that had closed called the "Buccaneer", it had been a favorite of many for years.

So Joe Paulk and Richard Justice, owners of Resource Plus decided to name their new office after the old restaurant. It started out to be a remodel but soon there was nothing left of the old walls as the new walls went up. We built Joe and Richards offices facing the St. Johns river with a view towards the inlet at the Atlantic ocean. The rest of the offices also included a conference room, restrooms and a kitchen. It also has 2 apartments up stairs with their own exists to the 2nd story balcony deck over the 1st story screen in porch. Joe Paulk wanted to keep a warm southern almost residential look by raising the foundation and siding the building with Hardie board lap siding. And to finish off the exterior of the building we installed a galvulume metal roof giving it a real southern tin roof look.

The drives, parking and landscaping were designed by Mike Jenkins of Decorative landscape, and the work was performed by Emerald landscape owner Gene Jolly. It has an absolutely beautiful setting with the palms and other landscaping right next to Shad Creek and the St Johns river.

Joe had the idea of adding antique heart pine flooring to the main floor, which when sanded and finished is absolutely gorgeous. Sabrina Paulk did the design and purchase of the office cabinetry in the conference room and other offices, which were also are very beautiful, and we built the cabinets for the kitchen at our cabinet shop.

After constructing the new Buccaneer Building for Joe and Richard, I was pleased to accept Joes invitation to build he and his wife Sabrina, a new 3 story home in the same southern style, and right down the road from the office backed up on Shad creek.

I recently visited Joe at his home and the Buccaneer building and they both look as beautiful as ever. Here on the web pages are some pictures of the Buccaneer Building.
